Our Story & Calling

Some stories are carefully planned. Others unfold as God gently, and sometimes unexpectedly, leads the way. Ours is very much the second kind.

Emma grew up immersed in ministry life as a pastor and missionary kid. Her childhood was shaped by service in both Colorado and Yokosuka, Japan, where she learned early what it looks like to live cross‑culturally and with open hands. That foundation eventually led her to Bible college, where she pursued both a Theology degree and a Nursing degree—two callings that reflect her heart for both spiritual and physical care. After graduating, Emma stepped into hospital work, serving patients and families with compassion and faith.

Zachary’s path began in a different place but was guided by the same Lord. Trained as an Electrical Engineer, Zach carried a deep passion for Jesus and a growing desire to serve overseas. Knowing the value of preparation, he committed several years to gaining practical experience in his field so he could one day use those skills on the mission field. Like Emma, Zach also attended Bible college, where his worldview was expanded and his heart stirred by stories of the Gospel spreading across the globe.

When Zach and Emma met, it didn’t take long to recognize God’s hand at work. Their relationship grew quickly, grounded in shared faith and a mutual desire to serve Jesus wherever He might lead. As they began their life together, the Lord continued to cultivate that calling, placing a clear and growing desire on their hearts to step out in faith and join One Challenge to serve at Black Forest Academy.

Along the way, God added a beautiful surprise to their journey—the birth of their daughter, Adelaide. Her arrival has been a powerful reminder of God’s goodness, timing, and faithfulness. As a growing family, they are grateful for where God has led them so far and expectant for what lies ahead.

With open hearts and willing hands, Zachary and Emma look forward to serving, learning, and walking in obedience to God’s call—trusting Him fully with their family, their future, and the ministry He has prepared for them.

With much love and gratitude,

Zachary & Emma
